A longing destination for poets and thinkers, a densely wooded National park and a region full of legends and myths: all this makes a holiday in the Harz mountains so appealing. The highest peak, the 1,141-metre-high Brocken, lies just above the tree line and rises bare out of dense beech and spruce forests. The climate up there is harsh and it is not surprising that Goethe set his Walpurgis Night scene from "Faust" there. Hiking, in winter also skiing, relaxing afterwards and enjoying culinary specialities in your hotel in the Harz - this is what a holiday looks like. Be it one of the numerous caves like the Iberg Dripstone Cave or a historic fortress like the medieval Falkenstein Castle.
