„Alltag vergessen und genießen“
Simply switch off, leave everyday life behind - this is perfectly possible at the newly renovated Hotel FreiWerk. While the picturesque village of Stolberg with its medieval half-timbered streets lies in the valley below, the hotel is enthroned high up on the Thyrahöhe with a spectacular view of the unique Harz natural landscape. In the exquisite restaurant "20zwanzig", the cuisine focuses on an authentic style with fresh, seasonal products and exquisite wines.

Your host
The hotel belongs to the Ritter von Kempinski private hotels, which have put a lot of attention to detail into the expansion and extension of the house. The aim is to preserve what is old and special in the region of central Germany and to create a place for guests that combines tradition with the spirit of the times. The story of the Ritter von Kempinski private hotels began over 20 years ago when Dr. Clemens Ritter von Kempinski discovered his love for the region and sustainable forestry. To this day, he does everything he can to preserve the small and large treasures of the region.

If you are coming from Hamburg, Bremen or Hanover, the best route is via the A7 and A2 to Braunschweig-Nord. From there follow the A391 and A395 towards Wolfenbüttel and Bad Harzburg. At the Vienenburg junction, take the A36 towards Wernigerode and Blankenburg. From here, your route will take you right through the picturesque Harz landscape to us. At the Blankenburg-Zentrum exit, change to the B81 towards Hasselfelde, where you turn left at the traffic lights onto the B242 towards Harzgerode/Stiege.
Drive through Stiege and after approx. 5 kilometres turn right towards Breitenstein/Stolberg. Two kilometres after Breitenstein, the road on the right leads directly to Stolberg, where you follow the main road through the town (towards Rottleberode/Berga).
