The German Avenue Road - A Route for Nature Lovers
Roll down the windows, turn on the music and enjoy the surrounding nature from the car - that's what you can do under the canopy of the German Avenue Road. Away from the hustle and bustle of multi-lane highways, you can discover Germany from a completely different perspective. On a total of around 2,900 kilometers, you will drive from the far north to the southwest of Germany along numerous avenues, highlighted by freshly blossoming trees in the spring and golden foliage in the fall. During your journey on Germany's longest vacation road, you will notice that mobility and nature can be wonderfully combined. Enjoy the relaxing effect of the tree tops lined up next to each other and let the varied landscapes pass you by. You will leisurely pass small towns, numerous lakes, charming old towns, famous sights and regional specialties from the Baltic Sea to Lake Constance. We have put together the most beautiful stages of the route for you.

Mecklenburg Lake District
From the starting point on the island of Rügen, the route follows the German Avenue Road in the direction of the Mecklenburg Lake District. This is known for its beautiful nature, its extensive landscapes and numerous lakes. Enjoy the tranquility of the northern natural idyll and drive over the Müritz and the Müritz National Park along historic avenues, planted with countless beautiful trees. From here you will continue towards Lutherstadt Wittenberg. From Dessau you can decide whether you want to continue in the direction of Dresden, or rather in the direction of the Harz mountains.

Dresden & Moritzburg
After a journey through idyllic natural scenery, you will head southeast to the exciting and dynamic city of Dresden, which combines culture, tradition and modernity. The capital of Saxony is not only ideal for shopping and strolling, but also for visiting cultural highlights such as the Dresden Frauenkirche or the Semper Opera House. Nearby is also the Saxon municipality of Moritzburg, which, in addition to the beautiful landscape around the local pond area with its picturesque Moritzburg Castle, the Moritzburg Lighthouse and the Pheasant Castle invites you to extensive exploration tours.

Ore Mountains
Another section leads through the Ore Mountains, past towns such as Zwickau. A mixture of dense forests, rolling hills and charming villages is revealed along this route. The next section of the German Alley Road takes you through the beautiful Harz Mountains with its highest peak, Brocken, and the associated states of Lower Saxony, Saxony and Thuringia. In Germany's northernmost low mountain range, there are numerous sights and outdoor opportunities for you to discover along the way after a short detour. Stalactite caves, moorlands, wild lynx, a huge suspension bridge and the picturesque Brocken steam locomotive add an adventurous touch to your trip. View the trees along the way of the German Avenue Road from a car or motorcycle, or explore the mountains and small towns in Baden Würrtemberg like Bad Herrenalb on foot.

Sicherheits-Tipps:
- Stay below 80 km/h if the trees are very close to the edge of the roadway
- Slow down to 60 km/h before curves and avoid overtaking maneuvers
- In cold, wet and leafy conditions: keep off the gas, high risk of slipping!
- Avoid sharp braking maneuvers on paved roads
- Switch on lights. Especially leafy avenues can be very dark.
- Avoid getting your wheels into the verge.
- When stopping, look for an adjacent dirt road so as not to be an obstacle to others.
- Watch for wildlife at dawn and dusk
- Do not be tempted to speed at night on open roads
