The Müritz and the Müritz National Park on the doorstep determine the leisure activities offered by the house. On rustic field paths that lead through the historically grown cultural landscape of the large estates of Mecklenburg, you can discover the traces of the eventful past on extensive hikes. Are you a nature lover? Then we have a tip: The guided hikes with an ornithologist to the bird sanctuary on the peninsula "Großer Schwerin" with the cranes, ospreys and sea eagles.

The Müritz forms the centre of the Mecklenburg Great Lakes and is thus the ideal starting point for your extended bicycle tour. Particularly recommended: the Müritz Circular Trail. The Müritz Circular Trail encircles over 125 km² of water and crosses Mecklenburg's unique primeval cultural landscape. However, you should not decide to walk around the Müritz on the spur of the moment, but plan enough time. The circular route is about 90 km long. You can rent your bike or e-bike from us.

If you want to know more about the centuries-old history of the manor houses and the large estates on the other side of the Elbe, then experience this on a guided historical tour through the Ludorf estate ensemble with the "lord of the manor" himself. Nowhere else in Europe is the density of stately estates and country castles greater than here in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Many of the 2,000 historic manor houses are now used for tourism and are looking forward to being discovered away from the tourist crowds.

The Müritz is the ideal place for water sports and experiences on and near the water. Whether enjoying the peace and quiet on a boat trip in the nature reserve or relaxed fishing, paddling a canoe or kayak on the Mecklenburg Lake District, or taking advantage of the great wind conditions for surfing, sailing or kiting. Here you are guaranteed to find refreshing variety on 100 km2 of water.

The Heinrich Schliemann Museum in Ankershagen is located in the former parental home of the famous archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann, a vicarage from the 18th century. Schliemann spent eight years of his childhood here and is said to have expressed the wish to excavate Troy at a young age. The museum has a permanent exhibition on the ground floor that traces Schliemann's career from his childhood in Mecklenburg to his excavations in Turkey and Greece. Original finds from Troy and replicas from the treasure of Priam are also on display. Special exhibitions are regularly held on the top floor of the museum.

In addition to the museum, there are other sites in Ankershagen that Schliemann described in his autobiography and that have been preserved, such as the village church, the Bronze Age burial mound on the Glockenberg and the robber baron's castle of Henning Bradenkierl. The Heinrich Schliemann Museum is an important place for archaeology and offers insights into the history and culture of the ancient world.

Every year at harvest thanksgiving time the Schlösserherbst in Mecklenburg Vorpommern takes place.
