Culinary at the Romantik Hotel Mondragon
In Restaurant Cristó, the kitchen bustles with activity all day long. Chefs conjure up delectable dishes inspired by French cuisine (‘la bistronomie’) with a touch of the Basque Country where the town of Mondragon nestles at the foot of the eponymous dragon mountain. Our culinary team can’t wait to serve up an unforgettable experience! From your table in our authentic old-world restaurant you can watch the chefs at work, enjoy views of the harbour or pick a table overlooking our inner garden with fountain. A hand-picked selection of Classic European wines—delicious and deliciously affordable—may make choosing difficult. But our sommelier is on hand to advise. The ingredients on our menu are carefully selected and sourced locally: summer fish from the North Sea and Oosterschelde, and in the winter game from breath-taking Schouwen-Duiveland.
Bienvenus, entrez Messieurs Damen. This is how guests are greeted when they enter Le Bistrôt à l'hotel Mondragon. Next to its big brother Restaurant Cristó, this Parisian bistro is a piece of "vrai Paris" in Zierikzee.
From classics like charcuterie and rillettes to tartar and canard à l'orange, it's always present here. But also a salad with goat cheese and Iberio ham, onion soup with soft pepper and French fries, narrow white linen and sparkling glassware set on the table. French topper on the menu with affordable wines, including many by the glass. But also our "Coups de Coeur" of classic Bordeaux and luscious Burgundies.
Soft music in the background, the staff in long white shirts. A pan of mussels does wonders for the smell. The chefs work in the background. In the evening, the twilight outside creates an extra atmosphere inside.
Whether you come just for a main course, for a sausage XXL or for the reasonably priced three-course menu for 29.50 ? vous êtes la bienvenue! Welcome to Le Bistrôt, welcome to us.
Your stay won’t be complete without a visit to the Heerenkamer, located in the tower of Mondragon. The lounge is open from early morning to late evening. Where better to sit back and bask in the distinctive atmosphere. Pick up a book, newspaper or magazine and relax in one of the comfortable club armchairs. Imagine yourself back in time, in an old-world gentleman’s club (which, in a former life, is exactly what it was). It was here, in a haze of cigar smoke around a table where maps jostled with a brandy decanter and glasses, that generations of city fathers shaped the destiny of Zierikzee.
