Activities at the Romantik Hotel Gebhards
Go on a voyage of exploration in the fields of art and science.
Culture lovers will be happy about the distinctive cultural life in Göttingen.
Three theaters, a symphony orchestra, several museums and exhibitions are just as much a part of it as events that take place annually: Händel Festival, literature fall, major events with international castings in the Lokhalle and the cultural summer are just a few examples.
Those who prefer to be sporty will love basketball games in the special atmosphere of the Göttingen Lokhalle or can take part in a bike tour. On a guided bike tour through Göttingen, you will learn about the history and present of the city.
From Göttingen, you can head south to the Friedland Museum on the Leineradweg, for example, which in the historic train station in Friedland illuminates the history of the well-known border crossing camp from 1945 to the present day. Only a short distance further you can reach the idyllic manor house Besenhausen with café.
If you prefer walking,we recommend the rose garden, the green area of the old city wall or the city forest on the Hainberg. For an excellent all-round view, climb the Bismarck Tower, the highest point in the city area (323 m above sea level). On clear days you can see the Harz Mountains from here.
The Kiessee lake in the south offers boat rentals, sailing and paddle clubs and numerous circular hiking trails. In winter you can ice skate on the frozen lake.
Those who want to relax can enjoy a little break in the hotel with sauna and whirlpool, a visit to the Eiswiese bathing paradise or a brine bath in the bathhouse of the only remaining pan saline in Europe.
