Since 1334: Austria's oldest family business. The Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt has been in family hands for almost seven centuries and has welcomed countless guests from all over the world. Today, the hotel is run by Michaela Gmachl, the 23rd generation of the family. She took over the business from her parents Theresia and Fritz Gmachl and now runs it with an impressive combination of foresight, extensive experience and her personal charm.

A sustainable and delicious start to the day at Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt. The breakfast delights with over 140 regional and homemade delicacies such as fresh bread from the Elixhauser Land Bakery, homemade jams, waffles and sweet pastries, fruit from the own garden, sheep's cheese and sheep's milk yoghurt from Lake Wolfgang. Famous are the sausages from our own production such as the Elixhauser Wirt bratwursts made according to the traditional family recipe of the senior chef.

Mobility

If you would like to travel in an environmentally friendly way by train, you can reach the centre of Elixhausen from Salzburg station in just 20 minutes by bus. If you would like to be picked up from the train station in Salzburg, please let us know well in advance of your arrival. We offer two charging stations for electric cars. On site you can stay mobile with our e-city bikes and e-mountain bikes as well as good bus connections to Salzburg.

Preservation of regional culture and traditions

As the oldest family business in Austria, we are aware of our cultural responsibility. In all modernisations, we keep in mind the preservation of our tradition-rich, soon to be 700-year-old farm and inn. In 1993, the stable of the former farm estate (now our breakfast room, the vault) was renovated. Since 2009, the extension of the Klosterhof with the SPA Horizont has taken place, whereby the original building was retained and renovated.

The Mozart city of Salzburg with its unique charm is worth a visit all year round, as is the hilly Flachgau region of Salzburg with the nearby dreamlike Trumer lake area. The spirit of Mozart can still be felt everywhere today - in various concerts, festivals in his honour and city tours. Walk in Mozart's footsteps in Salzburg and discover your favourite spot in the many gardens and parks. We also recommend a hike up the Mönchsberg, the Kapuzinerberg or the Festungsberg.

Coming from Vienna, Munich or Villach. The best way to reach the Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt is via the A1 coming from Vienna and take the motorway exit Salzburg Nord in the direction of Braunau Trumer Seengebiet and follow the federal road no. 156. Coming from Munich/Villach on the A1 take the exit Bergheim Ost and follow the federal road 156.

An important clue: You will pass Intersport Tscherne on your right. After about 1 kilometre you will reach a roundabout - continue straight on in the direction of Elixhausen. After about four kilometres you will reach Elixhausen.

The Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt is located directly in the centre of the village. Coming from the city of Salzburg, take the Vogelweiderstraße and the Salzburger Straße as well as the Bundesstraße Nr. 156 (Lamprechtshausener Str.) towards Elixhausen. Please bear in mind that vignettes are compulsory on Austria's motorways. We offer our guests a charging station for electric cars.

Numerous regional, long-distance and express train connections take you quickly and easily to Salzburg's main railway station. From there you can take bus line 120 to the centre of Elixhausen. The journey takes about 20 minutes and the fare is around 3.00 euros per person. You will find the Romantik Spa Hotel Elixhauser Wirt directly in the centre of the village.
