The art in the Romantik Alpenhotel Waxenstein enriches the hotel on all levels and opens the door between cosmopolitanism and tradition. Henri-Philippe Regis personally selected the works for you at the Marché de la Création in Paris. Among the artists you will experience at the Waxenstein are Willy Eisenberg - in the studio "Gepetto", Ewa Dabrowska (artist with Polish roots, whose artistic education is mainly reflected in paintings of dances), Hannah A. Laoust (moving - also dancing - bronze sculptures) or Serge Rat (oil paintings, charcoal drawings). The hosts Jürgen and Maria Lehn are also enthusiastic art collectors, which is also reflected in their second Romantik Hotel, the Romantik Hotel Chalet am Kiental on Lake Ammersee. Start directly from the hotel on Grainau's well-developed hiking trail system, which covers more than 100 km. If you are looking for a challenge, venture on the footpath towards the Zugspitze, and if you want to take it a little easier, you can explore the famous Partnachklamm gorge or experience the magnificent view of the light-flooded Loisach valley from our panorama mountain, the Wank! The crystal-clear mountain lakes Eibsee and Badersee can be admired very close to our Romantik Hotel. The cable car to Germany's highest peak, the Zugspitze, starts right next to the Eibsee. 

The Zugspitze region has the right tour for every cyclist's heart.  Experience the wonderful scenery of our beautiful mountains and simply cycle away from everyday life. With an e-bike you can cycle relaxed through the mountainous landscape.

Do you love adventure? Then you should get to know the wild side of the Alps. Whether you go kayaking or rafting, or canyoning down a watercourse from its source, you will definitely tell stories about it for a long time. Numerous via ferratas are also available to you in our valley. If you would like a guided tour, we will be happy to arrange this for you. Free climbers will get their money's worth at Herrgottschrofen, in Grainau on the Loisach.

With the Werdenfels Golf Club, the Oberau Golf Course, the Karwendel Golf Course and the Seefeld Golf Course in Tyrol, we have four golf courses in the immediate vicinity. Each one of them enchants with its very own charm. And for entertaining family fun, there is a mini-golf course in the spa park on Waxensteinstraße.

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen area has a total of five ski areas with well over 40 lifts, and Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze, offers bombastic snow fun from November to the end of May. The area between Hausberg, Kreuzeck and Alpspitze is Garmisch-Partenkirchen's largest connected ski area with more than 20 mountain railways and ski lifts. Cross-country skiers will find a wide network of interconnected trails in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area. The start in Grainau is only a stone's throw from the hotel. Those who prefer to walk will find great snpwshoe tours in avalanche-safe terrain.  Ice skaters will get their money's worth on the natural track in Grainau or on one of the frozen mountain lakes, such as the Eibsee or the Riessersee.

Those interested in culture will find a wide range of concerts, theatre performances and traditional festivals in Grainau. Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Murnau are only about half an hour away from Grainau. For Füssen and Neuschwanstein, it's best to plan a day trip, which will be well worth it. Or treat yourself to a guided tour of Linderhof Castle, about 30 km away. The former forester's cottage was converted into King Ludwig II's royal cottage in 3 construction phases between 1868 and 1886 and offers insights into the work of the dreamy king.
