The Venice Film Festival: a unique festival of cinematic art that adds even more glamour to the dreamlike lagoon city. In our Romantik Hotel in the region you can enjoy Venice in an ideal romantic way and away from the tourist crowds.

The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world, premiering in 1932. The cultural organization behind the festival, “La Biennale di Venezia” even dates back to 1895. While fans from all over the world admire the glamourous stars that attend the festival, the festival has a strong cultural focus: It creates awareness for international cinema in all its forms; as art, entertainment and as an industry, focusing on freedom and dialogue, and supporting a better understanding of the history of cinema and its meaning.

With the Lido di Venezia, the festival has chosen a unique location: on a thin island stretching between lagoon and open sea, right across from Venice’s famous old town centre. A short trip by boat brings you to the heart of Venice; at the same time, you can enjoy tranquility and a relaxed holiday at the beach when staying at the lido island. Since the 19th century, Lido di Venezia has been renowned as an elegant seaside resort. Many buildings are still proof of this history today. One very nice detail are the beach cabins, or “Capanna” to stay at while spending the day at the beach.

In one of the historic buildings in Lido di Venezia, a neo-Gothic villa, you will find the Romantik Hotel Russo Palace. It is only a few steps away from the fine sandy beach and impresses with views of the lagoon and the old town of Venice. During the Film Festival, the neighbourhood of the hotel gets very busy. The Palazzo del Cinema, main location of the festival, can be reached after a half-hour walk along the island or short car ride. In the rest of the year, the hotel ideally combines the city’s culture and splendor with a quiet location – perfect for a relaxed holiday in Venice.

If you prefer to see more of the region around Venice, while being able to reach the city in short time, you should choose the Romantik Hotel Villa Margherita. The elegant hotel is located in a large private park, ideal to relax and unwind. The surroundings of the hotel offer a number of interesting sights and activities. Enjoy a boat tour on the Brenta river or discover the region’s cities during a day trip. In addition to Venice, you can also easily reach Padua with its impressive medieval centre, the UNESCO world heritage city of Vicenza or Padova, known to a worldwide audience as setting of Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet”.
