The Steinhuder Meer is an inland lake in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located around 30 kilometers northwest of Hanover in the Hanover region.

With an area of around 30 square kilometers, the Steinhuder Meer is the largest lake in Lower Saxony. It stretches over a length of around 8 kilometers and a width of up to 4 kilometers.

The Steinhuder Meer is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts. You can go sailing, surfing, paddling or rowing. Fishing is also permitted. In addition, the surrounding cycling and hiking trails as well as the picturesque nature invite you to go on excursions.

There are several islands in the Steinhuder Meer, including the famous Wilhelmstein Island. This is home to a historic fortress that was built in the 18th century and now houses a museum. Another island is the bathing island, which is popular with bathers.
