Seaside hotels: Holidays by the sea

The beach right on your doorstep, clear air and the rushing sea: that is what holidays in a seaside hotel can offer you. When you take an long morning walk along the coast after a hearty breakfast, feel the wind in your hair and take a deep breath of the slightly salty air, then you know: this is what holidays taste like – all year round. Booking a seaside resort is an excellent choice, not only in summer. The sea has its own charm in spring, autumn and winter as well.

Book a Beach Holiday at the seaside hotel

As the North Sea gets rougher, the tourist resorts get calmer on the islands from Juist to Sylt. There are hardly any day-trippers, and you have spots which are normally so overcrowded in high season all to yourself. Locals take time to look after their guests and especially in the evenings, it gets cosier. In the temperate Baltic seaside resorts, now is the time for bicycle and hiking tours. Or you can go for a stroll along the famous sea promenades on the Timmendorfer Beach, on Rügen or on Usedom.

In summer, swimming and water sports are on the itinerary for a holiday at the seaside hotel. Going for a swim, canoeing, wind- or kitesurfing – there is always something going on at the coast. And those who don’t want to let off steam with sports can nestle into the beach chair and watch. That is just as fun!

Enjoying at the seaside hotel

At the seaside hotels, the sea is also present on your plate. Fresh North Sea shrimps directly from the cutter, plaice and Sylt oysters, also served by your Romantic Hotel & Restaurant, are famous delicacies for a reason. At the Baltic Sea, a lot of cod and mackerel is caught and often freshly smoked in rustic beach sheds. Smoked fish is also a tasty souvenir to take home! Further local specialties: on Rügen, carp is served baked and with a lot of horseradish, while in Kiel sprats, eaten as a whole, are a must. Everywhere along the coasts between Belgium and Usedom, the fish bun is a popular snack, especially with herring in all variants. Of course, seaside hotels also serve sweets such as „Rote Grütze“, a dessert made with red fruits and unwhipped sweet cream, and dough balls with apple-pear-compote. On the Baltic Sea coast in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, sea buckthorn products are especially good, such the liqueur: a nice way to finish a meal, similar to Korn and Köm. Beer is offered with the food, along with a lot of tea. Book your seaside resort right away!
