Toni Mörwald becomes a Romantik Hotelier

One of Austria's best-known and most talented chefs joins the Romantik cooperation: The hotel operated by Toni Mörwald at Schloss Grafenegg in Lower Austria, including award-winning gastronomy, will in future be marketed under the pan-European hotel and restaurant brand. Romantik board member Ralph Düker, from the Romantik hotel “Zur Schwane” in Volkach, welcomed Toni Mörwald personally in the hotel cooperation.

"We are enormously pleased that one of the most renowned hosts of Austria is now also a Romantik hotelier and can profit from our offers for hotels and restaurants”, says Ralph Düker. Toni Mörwald also looks forward to cooperation: “Romantik offers hoteliers and restaurateurs a modern and complete package for marketing and distribution, combined with personal services for the members. That convinced us immediately".

The admission into the circle of Romantik took place within the framework of a culinary reception at the Mörwald Romantik Hotel Schloss Grafenegg in the presence of the lord of the castle, Tassilo Metternich-Sándor von Ratibor. With immediate effect, the most important castle complex of romantic historicism in Austria is now one of the 20 Romantik Hotels in Austria, which in turn belong to the Europe-wide network of 200 mostly owner-managed hotels and 250 restaurants.

"As the Romantik Hotels and Restaurants are defined not only by the experiences for the guests but also by their hosts, Schloss Grafenegg with Toni Mörwald, his family and a great team fits perfectly with our philosophy and our brand", says Ralph Düker.

For almost three decades, the Austrian three-bonnet chef Toni Mörwald has been an entrepreneur in the spirit of hospitality. The farmer and winegrower son has experienced nature and the production of wine, food and cuisine from an early age. Mörwald started with an inn and a restaurant. In the course of time, further restaurants, a catering company, three hotels and a cooking school were added. In three decades, Mörwald has trained more than 300 professional chefs, who are now active all over the world. The top chef insists that he never left his roots, which is also evident in the restaurants: A cuisine with top Austrian products is offered - international, but in such a way that you can see where you are and eat. "The time to eat is the time of life. If you don't have time to eat, you don't have time to live," says Mörwald.

And that's why gourmets and wine connoisseurs enjoy exquisite culinary art at the pulse of time in the Mörwald Romantik Hotel Schloss Grafenegg, directly at the entrance to the castle grounds. The wine culture of the hotel, which has been cultivated by the Mörwald family for generations, provides the perfect accompaniment. Hotel guests have breakfast on the sun terrace with a magnificent view of Grafenegg Castle and the park. But the restaurant also offers daily fresh creations for the small hunger in between or the coffee snack in the afternoon, with the best pastries from the own patisserie. Visitors who prefer to dine outdoors in the countryside start the day with their own picnic basket: whether on a walk through the stately landscaped garden, in a quiet spot under centuries-old trees, directly by the goldfish pond or on the lawn in front of the castle.

The Mörwald Romantik Hotel Schloss Grafenegg is the perfect starting point for visits to the Wagram-Kamptal wine-growing region and nearby Wachau. As one of the most enchanting river valleys on the continent, the UNESCO World Heritage Region offers significant art treasures and a diverse cultural offering. The gateway to the Wachau is the town of Krems, which has much to offer to visitors with its idyllic and widely ramified alleys, excellent wines and medieval history. In addition, the region's internationally renowned wineries invite visitors to explore them. Active holidaymakers discover the region best on foot on the World Heritage Climb and indulge in events and exhibitions of art and culinary delights. A real highlight in the calendar is the Grafenegg Festival, which takes place every year on the castle grounds under the artistic direction of star pianist Rudolf Buchbinder and is one of the most important orchestral festivals in Europe.
