Four State Winners: Romantik Sweeps the Board at the Wellness Report 2019 of the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry and Travelcircus

(21 May 2019) The Romantik Hotels are the big winners of the Wellness Report 2019, which has just been published by the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry (BTW) and Travelcircus. In four of the 16 federal states, Romantik hotels are at the top of the podium.

The state winners include the Romantik Roewers Private Hotel in Sellin on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Romantik Hotel Achterdiek on the island of Juist in Lower Saxony, the Romantik Wellnesshotel Diedrich in Hallenberg in Sauerland in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Romantik Hotel Fuchsbau in Timmendorfer Strand in Schleswig-Holstein.

Romantik is delighted: "With the four first places in the federal states and many other top placings in the ranking, the 101 Romantik Hotels in Germany have once again underlined their quality standards. If you are looking for high-quality wellness offers paired with excellent cuisine and unforgettable experiences, then Romantik's 200 hotels in nine European countries are just the right place for you," says Thomas Edelkamp, Chairman of Romantik.

A total of 833 wellness hotels from the 4- and 5-star categories were examined throughout Germany. Evaluation criteria were among other things the average customer evaluations of the hotels with Google, their Wellness offer as well as the price performance ratio.

The Romantik Country Winners in Portrait:

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania - 1st place: Romantik Roewers Privathotel, Sellin

The 5-star wellness hotel Romantik Roewers Privathotel is one of the attractions in the Baltic seaside resort of Sellin. The villas, some of which have been family-owned for generations, in the style of Wilhelmine spa architecture, as well as the Finja summer house are located directly on the magnificent Sellin boulevard. At its end is the famous pier, one of the most popular excursion destinations on the island of Rügen. All three villas, Rugia/Marina, Sella and Vineta of the luxury hotel are single monuments from the time of the turn of the century, which were restored true to the original and with much love for the detail in the style of the old bath architecture. The park-like property with over 8000 square meters has an old tree population and borders in the rear area on a wonderful high forest, the spa gardens of the Baltic seaside resort Sellin. Absolute highlight: The pool on the roof with view over the island.

Lower Saxony - 1st place: Romantik Hotel Achterdiek, Juist

The 4-star Romantik Hotel Achterdiek offers relaxation and recreation, a familiar atmosphere and a noble ambience. The hotel is known for its award-winning gourmet cuisine and warm hospitality in an idyllic location just behind the dyke. In the Achterdiek SPA, with its unique view of the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea and its light-flooded bathing and sauna landscape, guests can recharge their batteries for their well-being. A fresh breeze awakens the good spirit and wise thoughts. A delicious cup of original East Frisian tea sharpens the senses and lends lightness.

North Rhine-Westphalia - 1st place: Romantik Wellnesshotel Diedrich, Hallenberg

The Diedrich family has always asked themselves again and again what is really good for guests and employees. Already in 1898, the house Diedrich was a place to refuel, because at that time it accommodated the transit passengers as a post station. Today it has become the destination of the journey: a place of refuge and an oasis of peace with plenty of room to recharge. The warm-puristic wellness area covers an area of 1,400 square metres and includes a columned spa with various treatments, saunas, the relaxation area “Timeless”, fitness room and bistro. Massages and many other treatments help to balance body and mind.

Schleswig-Holstein - 1st place: Romantik Hotel Fuchsbau, Timmendorfer Strand

The Romantik Hotel Fuchsbau in Timmendorfer Strand presents itself as a romantic hideaway for nature lovers. The hotel is sheltered from the wind and well-protected in the middle of the greenery of the popular seaside resort. In a "hyggelig" atmosphere, idleness is pleasantly easy here - whether in the rooms, suites, in the 700 square metre SPA, in the library, by the fireplace. Since 1915 family-owned, ranks the First Class hotel with historical roots and among the prominent hotels at the German Baltic Sea coast.
