Bayrisches Haus: Alexander Dressel becomes Romantiker

(16th July 2018) Alexander Dressel, president of the German Jeunes Restaurateurs (JRE), will become a member at Romantik with his Hotel Bayrisches Haus in Potsdam. Apart from the hotel, also the star-rated restaurant “Friedrich Wilhelm“ and the bistro “Elise“ will be presented additionnally by the Romantik-Restaurants cooperation. “Romantik has many loyal guests, who travel with the brand through Europe and are looking for tranquility, delight and quality near big cities and like to explore the region. This suits perfectly for the Hotel Bayrisches Haus. Moreover, we are convinced by the whole marketing package for hotels and now also for restaurants“, says Alexander Dressel, manager of the premium hotel at the gates of Potsdam. “With the star cook Alexander Dressel we welcome one of the most renowned hosts and best cooks in Germany and with the Hotel Bayrisches Haus one of the top addresses of the hospitality and gastronomy“, says Thomas Edelkamp, CEO at Romantik. In the cooperation Dressel will meet many of his JRE colleagues. Eight restaurateurs from the group are also involved at Romantik or are working as chefs. The Bayrisches Haus was built 1847 on behalf of Frederick William IV. Located south of Potsdam, it was a gift for the Prussian king’s wife, princess Elisabeth Ludovika von Bayern, who was perhaps missing her former home.

The Hotel is situated in a wildlife park near the gates of Potsdam between Havel, Schwielowsee and Templiner See. The unique location of the hotel captivates with noticeable tranquility and the beauty of nature. The hotel has 26 double bedrooms, two single bedrooms and 13 suites. With the gourmet restaurant “Friedrich Wilhelm“ the hotel offers the only restaurant in Brandenburg’s capital awarded with a Michelin star and this already for 13 years. Alexander Dressel composes in the “Friedrich Wilhelm“ delicate, seasonal menus with top quality ingredients in a relaxed atmosphere. Lunch and dinner of the same quality is offered by the Bistro Elise, from the grounded classics to new creations of regional delicacies.

The spa and wellness area on 440 square meters leaves nothing to be desired: pool with large sunbathing lawn in the shadow of pine trees, massages, cosmetics, aroma sauna, steam sauna, softpack, Alpha couch, fitness and caring treatments by professionals await the guests. For selected events and family celebrations, birthdays and weddings, the ballroom “Luise“ will be available, which provides space for 120 persons and with its intelligent room system, it is also perfectly suitable for meetings.

Situated directly by the access to the Hotel Bayrische Haus, is the historical old forestry (“Alte Försterei“). It was built 1842 on behalf of Frederick William IV by his architect Ferdinand Ludwig Persius – as Forsthaus Südtor, one of three entrance houses to the wildlife park. The charming house also belongs to the hotel and is available for guests as an event venue. Between antler and tiled stove in the lovingly restored guestroom, celebrations with up to 50 guests are held. On warm days, the summery guest garden offers more than 70 idyllic places between trees, shrubs and a playground for the younger guests. Additionnally, the hotel offers here cooking courses for 8-12 persons.
