After international tender: Romantik chooses DIRS21 as reservation system
(Frankfurt, 22nd January 2020) In order to find the right reservation system (CRS) for the Romantik brand, with its 200 hotels, the cooperation has for the first time carried out an international tender. The almost two-year evaluation procedure was openly conducted by industry expert Bianca Spalteholz. The new version of DIRS21 of the Swabian Touronline AG emerged as the winner of the process.
"The reservation system, the channel manager and the booking engine for the brands' and hotels' websites are central elements in marketing. If you don't know the market exactly, you can't find the best offer. Any mistake would be a costly revenge for years to come. Our multi-stage tendering process should therefore be unique in the industry in its depth," says Thomas Edelkamp, CEO of Romantik, and continues: "We are delighted to have found a partner in DIRS21 and Touronline AG who exactly meets Romantik's requirements with the new version of its software.
Romantik has already been working with Touronline AG for 15 years. Nevertheless, Edelkamp decided to place an international tender on the market in which all major suppliers took part. A comprehensive catalogue of criteria was developed together with the Romantik hoteliers in order to meet the range of requirements of small, medium and large hotels as well as the needs of the cooperation and the brand. "The need for Romantik and its hotels to work on a distribution platform is a crucial pillar for the success of the cooperation. Hoteliers have not only recognized this in recent years, but have also largely implemented it," says Edelkamp.
The invitation to tender was accompanied by Bianca Spalteholz, one of the most renowned experts in this field, who moderated a two-stage selection process with system presentations and then evaluated the results. In this process, DIRS21 with its new version 4 and thus released new backend DIRS21 cockpit was selected as a future partner. "If Touronline had entered the race with an older version of the software, we would probably have changed the provider, which would have meant a considerable effort for Romantik. The current further development, which is a completely new system when viewed closely, met our criteria and convinced us completely," emphasizes the Romantik boss.
David Heidelberg, founder and CEO of Touronline, is also delighted with the winning procedure: "Romantik's evaluation procedure was a real endurance test for all participating CRM providers. We have not yet taken part in any more demanding tender. To win Romantik back as a customer here at the end is not only a great honour but also an incentive and obligation for the future".
The new version of DIRS21 is currently being tested in Romantik pilot hotels. This will be followed by extensive training measures for the hosts in the eight Romantik countries and the major "roll-out" at the brand and in the hotels.
