Bern is the capital of Switzerland and enchants its visitors with its charme, its abundance of sights, the legendary fountain and the arcades that invite to a go shopping in any wind and weather. The beautiful old town of Bern become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.

Discover Bern on a walk through the Lower Old Town - on cobblestone streets, past hidden corners and on historic sites. From the late Gothic Bern Minster to the Bundeshaus, via the Kornhaus with the "Chindlifresserbrunnen" fountain to the Käfigturm tower and Bern's oldest city gate - the famous Zytglogge (clock tower). An extraordinary spectacle takes place in Bern every hour on the hour: That is when the medieval figure play of the Zytglogge (clock tower) comes into play. The dancing bear train, the cheeky fool and the screaming rooster delight young and old - every day for centuries.

Follow in the footsteps of Albert Einstein on a guided city tour. The physicist lived here when he created the famous formula E = mc² in 1905 and turned our ideas of space and time upside down with his relativity theory. He came to the Swiss capital in 1902 and took up a position at the Federal Patent Office. In 1903 he and his wife Mileva moved into an apartment on the 2nd floor at Kramgasse 49 in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This apartment is open to visitors. It is furnished in the style of the time and documents the life of the physicist in Bern.

Whether as an idyllic mountain oasis, fast-paced toboggan paradise or legendary open-air site - Bern's local mountain makes the hearts of all ages beat faster. At 858 meters above sea level, a paradise of green meadows opens up with a breathtaking panorama of the snowy mountain peaks of the Bernese Oberland, the glittering Aare and the city of Bern. Between grazing cows, clattering walking sticks and children playing, the hustle and bustle of everyday life is forgotten in no time.

The Bern Bears are at home in the Bear Park in the middle of the city with a view of the UNESCO-designated Old Town of Bern.
