Culinary at the Romantik Hotel auf der Wartburg
If you believe Thuringian specialities consist of home-made Thuringian sausages and genuine Thuringian dumplings, you will both see your expectations confirmed and be in for a surprise at the Wartburg. Head chef Annett Reinhardt has dedicated herself to history and combines historical menus with contemporary kitchen philosophy.
The festive banquets that used to take place in the Wartburg serve as inspiration and are reinterpreted in modern guise by her and her team. In addition, little stories are told appealingly about the origin and composition of the products.
Natural aromas, the plainness and superior, predominantly organic quality of the recipes constitute the criteria of Herrmann’s landgrave cuisine. The Landgrafenstube does not just offer excellent cuisine, but also competent and unobtrusive service. The ambience is rounded off with a well-stocked wine cellar.
Castle café 'Gadem' at 2. courtyard
Walther von der Vogelweide already sang the praises of the great hospitality of Landgrave Hermann von Thüringen in his songs. Countless Wartburg ramblers have stopped off here at the taproom of the noble residence since that time. The castle café takes up this tradition today. Enjoy the unique Wartburg gateau from our own patisserie and our many speciality coffees. In the evening hours the Wartburg, well away from the streams of tourists, has its own very special charm. At Gadem, we organise festivities, both large and small, exclusively for you. Enjoy having the Wartburg almost completely to yourselves!
