At a glance the L'Esplanade
Superb views of the Dordogne Valley and the flowing river from the terrace of the "Esplanade", in the medieval city of Domme 450,000 years of history move everybody from their planned tracks. Fifteen smart, comfortable rooms, all tastefully decorated. Pascal Bouland serves up traditional regional cuisine, where each dish pays tribute to the land where the first men lived. There is something vital in the air here. Henry Miller, who fell in love with this part of the world, described it thus: "France may one day no longer exist, but Dordogne will live on, just like the dreams that fuel the human soul".
