Autumn in Imst - a colourful nature and culture experience
Autumn in the holiday region of Imst-Gurgltal enchants the guests with a mixture of splendid nature and interesting tradition. This is the ideal season for unforgettable hiking trips in the Lechtal Alps. Various events offer diversification and new impressions.
On September 14th, 2008 the so-called "Tarrenzer Schafschied" takes place, the yearly Almabtrieb (taking down the cattle from the mountains during winter time) of approximately 1.000 sheep. The event finishes with a jolly party including an amusing "cow lottery", musical entertainment and culinary delights with lamb.
Along the long distance hiking trail "Tiroler Adlerweg" (Tyrolean Eagle Trail) local tourist offices and cable cars celebrate on October 12th, 2008. Guided hiking tours and raptors' flight shows are part of the entertaining program.
The suitable surrounding for an unforgettable stay in the Tyrolean region of Imst-Gurgltal is the Romantik Hotel Post. Mentioned for the first time in 1450 the former castle combines history and modernity in a harmonical way today. Among old knight's armour, hidden Biedermeier parlour and a terrace, decorated beautifully with flowers guests can find contemporary comfort. The excellent cuisine of the Romantik Hotel Post is well-known by food lovers.
In case you remember the swinging melody "Ich bin die Christl von der Post" from the operetta "The Bird Seller" ("Der Vogelhändler"): The post-house, in which the musical play is set, is the post-house in Imst, the former bird selling capital of Europe. And this post-house is today the Romantik Hotel Post, which is not only looking back on a past as castle, but also on a past as post-house.
